Creating Workgroup

To create Workgroup follow these steps:

1.       Click on Start button > Right Click My Computer >click Properties > click Advance System Settings.

2.       Select  Computer Name and click on Change as shown below

3.       Under Member of, click Workgroup, and then (as shown below)

To create a new workgroup, type the name of the workgroup that you want to create, and then click OK.

STANDARD OF ETHERNET CABLE

There are two standard of ethernet cable T-568A and T-568B

TYPES OF ETHER NET CABLE DUE TO WORKING.

1. STRAIGHT THROUGH
2. CROSS OVER

Now we will learn about the use of straight through and cross over cable.

USE OF STRAIGHT THROUGH CABLE

If we want to connect same devices (like two computer , two network switches or two routers) then we will use Straight through cable.

As I said above that there are two coloring scheme of Ethernet cable T-568A and T-568B. Now if we want to create Straight Through Cable then we use both end of ethernet cable as T-568A OR T-568B.shown as below

USE OF CROSS OVER CABLE

If we want to connect two different devices like Network switch and computer etc.then we use cross over cable.

As I said above that there are two coloring scheme of Ethernet cable T-568A and T-568B. Now if we want to create Cross Over Cable then we use one end of ethernet cable as T-568A and the other as T-568B. shown as below.

When two or more computer connect through medium to share data and resources is called “Network” and this process is called “Networking”

Note: Basic Categories of Networks are LAN and WAN and the others have gradually emerged over many years of technology evolution.

WAN  Wide Area Network
MAN   Metropolitan Area Network
SAN   Storage Area Network, System Area    
      Network.

DAN   Desk Area Network

Note:How ever there are several types of network as said above but here we will learn about the basic networks like LAN , MAN and WAN.

LAN:LAN stands for "Local Area Network".It can consist of 1 or two adjacent building i.e offices.The maximum length of Local area network is 100 meter.As it cross 100 meter there begins Attenuation. How ever if we are using cat-5 or cat-6 STP(shielded twisted pair cable than its range can be more than 100 meter.

                Metropolitan Area Network

MAN:MAN stands for "Metropolitan Area Network".It means that a network consist of in a city.In Metropolitan Area Network there may be more than one LAN network.

Wide Area Network

WAN:WAN stands for "Wide Area Network".A Network consist of large area network.WAN is consist of many LAN , MAN , WLAN etc.
